Chrome Skulls, Bugs, Cowboy Hats & Yes Even Car Parts

I’m sure most of you have heard of spray on chrome. It’s been around for awhile now. Not many people are doing it right so you see guys routinely pop up, show off a few pieces and then disappear. That’s not the case at Alternative Chrome Creations at 8900 S. Broadway in Haysville, KS. They have been slowly perfecting the art of chroming anything that you can paint for a couple of years now. You won’t see any big advertising from them, or booths at shows across the country…yet. Owner Larry Perkins says “we wanted to be sure we could deliver a quality product before we started marketing all over the place. Even without it we are busy all of the time.” Their shop was full of parts in various stages of the process including some finished pieces that were really amazing.

 I
I’m sure I have some Texas friends that want this piece.

If you have a piece that needs to be chromed and regular chroming won’t work, they can probably make it happen.

I won’t bore you with how it all happens, there are plenty of videos out there that show you the process. What I can tell you in that it is a whole ton better environmentally than traditional chroming, and you can chrome anything that you can paint. Perkins is quick to point out that if you have a near perfect bumper or the like that you’d normally chrome the traditional way, go for it. Where Alternative Chrome Creations comes into play is when you have parts that are not chromable by normal methods. Cowboy hats, skulls, bugs, bones, plastic, wood, fiberglass, all of these materials can now get a shiny coating of chrome and even a top coat with color if you want.

Alternative Chrome Creations is currently adding a 4800 sq. foot addition on to the shop that will eventually hold a show room and the new downdraft paint booth that you see in the photos below. The phone number is in the photos, if you have something that you’d like chromed and you know that normal chroming can’t or wont do it. You can go like their facebook page here as well.

The new booth at ACC is a huge improvement over the old one. They are expecting to more than double their productivity and improve the quality of the final product.

Not only is the chroming process a $10k investment, but this water purifying system was an additional $15k. ACC is stopping at nothing to get the absolute best quality out of their pieces.
