Another event that I couldn’t make but wish I could have was 2015 The Race Of Gentlemen or TROG. Held on the beach next to Wildwood, NJ this traditional hot rod event was postponed due to a hurricane and many were wondering how the turnout would be a week later. I think you’ll see from Jason Mayginnes’ photos that the turn out was great!

The 2015 Poverty Flats Pie Festival and Car Show Fall Edition is much like the one that my uncle Paul (Poverty Flats) put on over Memorial Day weekend. A free to enter car show that has delicious pies as trophies and is more about having a good time than anything else. The Fall edition happens as part of the Gypsum, KS Fall Fest so it includes a parade, a feed, music, games all in my home town. Good times! I was only able to stay for a short bit as this weekend is the Blues Masters At The Crossroads concerts that I work each year but I did snap some quick shots of some of the cars for you to enjoy!

The smaller shows like the 2015 Old Geezers Show are my favorite. You get the time to talk to everyone, you get to relax with your friends, it’s just a better time than spending all day looking at 1000 cars and never having time to talk or take in the details. Some great rides showing up helps too!

The 2015 Old Geezers Show had a few of the other shoeboxes at it, some fine Tri-five rides were in attendance!
This weekend I attended the 2015 Old Geezers Show in Lamar, MO. For the 3rd year I’ve been able to make the trek to this small town to enjoy a cool little show with a lot of great folks. In 2014 the show featured Mercury’s, in 2015 it was Shoebox Fords, although not too many made it. I was supposed to take mine, but it’s not done at the shop yet, another friend was recovering from a surgery and couldn’t take his, at a smaller show like this even a couple of cars makes a difference.

When Kyle and Tay invited me to their wedding, I didn’t think I could make it. As time went on I started to realize that I need to start taking some time off from a car show here or there to take part in my friend’s lives. This was a great opportunity because they wanted to have a car show as part of the wedding. Since I couldn’t make Iron Invasion I asked Dan Podobinski to cover it for us while I attended a car show wedding in Ash Grove, MO.

The 2015 Rumble ran from noon to 7pm, since I had a bit of a drive to do and some of the food trucks had left the event I snuck out to grab some dinner before the awards. When I got back it looked like about half of the show had left before the awards. That’s kind of a bummer because the Primarys Car Club that put on the event really have some killer hand made trophies for the event. Painted up skate decks, hand made aluminum sculpture from this week’s sponsor Corey Conyers of Crown Customs and a bunch more cool stuff that you don’t see at most shows.

After making it through the cars of the 2015 Rumble I headed up the alley to the Go Away Garage for the Chrome, Smoke & Flames show at the gallery. Some AMAZING art on display in the show as always. Mitch at the Go Away has been kind enough to let some local pinstripers come in and do a panel jam each year. I grabbed a couple of images of the painting going down by Ron Pinkston and Jason Jewitt.

The weather for the 2015 Rumble was awesome! Well it was nice and warm and sunny but the sun made photos a bit harder. All in all I’ll take it over the rain that has plagued so many events in the area in the last couple of years. The 2015 Rumble started at Noon, the cars started showing up around 11am. By the time I rolled in at noon I was in the back row of the parking lot, it was filling up quickly. The show is really focused on the 64 and older rods and customs. There is another big show in the area the same day and the sign out front point blank spells out what kind of cars they’d like to see here and where to find the other show if your car doesn’t fit the requirements for the Rumble. I personally would rather see more of these types of shows. Or at the very least segregated parking :).

Sept, 26, 2015 in Wichita, KS was the 2015 Rumble. I’ve been attending the Rumble since it was the Rumble in Delano a few years ago. Through all of the changes in the show from June to September to a different venue I’ve always liked this event. Yes, its kind of small. No, that’s not an issue. I’d prefer under 500 cars to more than 500 any week of the year. The show this year tried to put all of the cars under the Kellogg/US54 flyover which led to some challenging photos due to extreme sun and shadow but I think you’ll agree that it looks good. It’s great to not have the sun bearing down on you all day too.

The final day of the 2015 OKC Hot Rod Hundred coverage picks back up on the highway. We headed over to RK Machine, in Ripley, OK and then to a small private museum. From there we hopped on highway 33 and headed for a park in Guthrie, OK where we would gather up for some BBQ and we could check out a car show going on in the park.
All in all a great day spent driving our cars with friends. What more could you ask for?
