For 8 years running I’ve been making the trek down to MoKan Dragway outside of Asbury, MO to attend the H.A.M.B. Drags and hang out with great friends. This year I was a little late to the party because on Friday night I got to see Reverend Horton Heat with Wayne “The Train” Hancock in Wichita. For those that don’t know, the H.A.M.B. stands for the Hokey Ass Message Board, which is a message board on the JalopyJournal.com the H.A.M.B. has been one of the go-to places to find all things traditional hot rod and custom for most of the life of the internet. It’s this website that has introduced me to most of the people that I know in the hot rod and kustom car world. Arriving a bit later than I wanted to I was still able to get there before the action started. For the first hour or two that I was on site I was running around shooting video, I’ll try to have that edited and loaded to the site tomorrow, but here are the photos.  More info below this quick ad for my book!
48 Cars In 48 States : The Great American Road Trip – An 18,200 mile 48 States road trip in a 1963 Ford. Along the way I covered 6 events and shot a feature article on 48 different cars and then compiled them al into a book! The first 200 copies of the book sold out in 3 weeks time, you can order a copy of the 2nd edition of the book here! They are shipping now!
Here is a slide show of the photos of the event from my point of view. Click here if you cannot see it in your email.  After just a couple hours of sleep, then 3 hours of driving, 6 hours in the sun at the event and then 4 more hours back to my house it was a long day. But I got to see a ton of great friends, got to watch Jason Holland turn his first 10 second pass in his Model A and had a great time all around.  Enjoy the photos and remember that to make these events even better, YOU have to be there. So make plans to be there next year! Buy a print (click on the image for the shopping cart) if you like a photo! See you at a show, Royboy
