The 5th Annual Hot Rod Rock & Rumble filled the Pikes Peak International Raceway August 27-29th. This year I had to cruise the 450 miles out in the daily driver, but with my new house being pretty close to US 50 and the racetrack being about 20 miles off of US 50, I figured why not cruise the highway all the way out instead of spending the day on the boring interstate.

The Hot Rod Rock & Rumble is FULL of activities, drag racing, multiple stages for live bands, burn out contests, pin up contests, cruising the track, and more! The pit road for the circle track has been turned into a drag strip with a stage over the staging lanes, live bands jamming out as cars do burnouts underneath them… it’s pretty damn cool. After you take a run down the strip you can cruise around the track and live out your NASCAR fantasies in your classic ride.

After rolling in late Friday afternoon I could already see that the show looked more full than I’d seen it in previous years, and there was a continuous line of people getting registered for the show. Live bands were playing from multiple stages, including one made out of an old RV with the side cut open. It’s a sight to see! The rest of the weekend was spent trying to take in all of the sights, sounds and activities of the Hot Rod Rock & Rumble.

The party starts early on Saturday with cars rolling in before 8am and the party rolling until after midnight. This show has more going on than you could possibly take in, so you MUST come back next year to try more of the schedule.

It was a great weekend with tons of stuff to do, an infield full of killer cars, and it was also the 25th Anniversary of my club the Lonely Knights!
