My friend and mentor Doug Reed went to our friend Roger Linn’s house southwest of Wichita for his NSRA Appreciation Day last weekend and Doug was kind enough to share these photos with me to share with you.
Since I didn’t have any big road trips to do this weekend I stayed close to home. The area vo-tech school was having their annual show, the Salina Tech Vehicle Extravagana was going on so I hopped in the car and headed on over to check it out.

The SWMO Hot Rod Hundred continued from Hot Shoe Hot Rods on through some amazing roads to end up in Crane, MO for some kick butt BBQ and a bit of a hang out session for us all. It took a while for everyone to trickle in but it was a great impromptu car show once we all got there. The route from Mount Vernon to Crane was a bit of a circular one but that’s because the roads were amazing! There were times when it seemed like it wasn’t straight more than ÂĽ mile at a time, hills, valleys, curves and great views. This was one of the greatest drives I’ve ever driven in the Galaxie. Enjoy!

Folks traveled from as close as a couple of miles to all the way from Massachusetts to be here. To be fair the couple from MA in the killer 302/AOD Maverick are on a bigger trip than the Hot Rod Hundred but they decided to come take part in the event and that is really cool! They won the Long Distance Award by a long shot and were a delight to talk to.

Part 3 of the 2016 SWMO Hot Rod Hundred continues the parade out of the parking lot, with around 140 cars it was a long parade and the wind was a bit colder than I expected. Somewhere in here I had to fish the gloves out and warm my hands up so I could continue working the camera! Luckily for us the rain stayed away and the temp steadily rose all day long.

As the parade of kool that was the Hot Rod Hundred rolled out of the Brookline Church of Christ parking lot I wondered where the CrossMembers were going to find a parking lot big enough for next year’s run. They just kept coming! Mostly vintage cars, some hot rods, even a roadster in the 34 degrees of the morning, a couple of kustoms, a bunch of street rods, some muscle cars, a miniature Freightliner, and some newer rides. There was a great group of various makes, models and build styles, and most importantly there were a ton of great people.

As is usual for me, I missed the first Southwest Missouri Hot Rod Hundred. I made last year’s and made plans to be back for the 2016 edition. The Hot Rod Hundred is a 100 mile fun run put on by the CrossMembers CC and they do them all over the country! The Southwest Missouri HRH happens on the Saturday of Easter Weekend each year, some would think that would keep the attendee number down but this year was the biggest one yet with over 140 cars and about 300 people. We showed up a little later than I wanted to so it was basically time to start the driver’s meeting when we rolled up, no time to take parking lot shots, as soon as the meeting was over the cars started rolling out! Enjoy the photos there will be more all week long!
This post’s photos shot by Nick Hoesing and brought to you by Nick’s Garage.
Lucky for me (and you) my buddy Nick Hoesing took some photos at the 2016 Omaha World of Wheels show last weekend. He was gracious enough to share them with me to share with all of you.
Outside the shop you can see 3 of the 4 doors of this giant metal building that house Riggs Fabrication & Restoration.

I didn’t attend a show this weekend but I did go to the Riggs Fabrication & Restoration Shop Party last Saturday after the Goodguys Spring Lonestar Nationals in Fort Worth. Riggs’ shop is just a couple of miles south of the Texas Motor Speedway just off of I-35W. Here are some shots from my cell phone from that night.
In this podcast Royboy talks with long time hot rod and custom guy Bob K! With over 200,000 miles on just one of his cars, Bob gets around and has the stories to prove it. Enjoy the tales from the road!

The first photo in this post of the 2016 Goodguys Spring Lonestar Nationals is of my buddy Larry Davidson’s wagon. It’s looking great in the new blue hue and scallops! Cars like this and owners like Larry are what make the miles worth it. Check out the snub nose right hand drive truck from New Zealand in the coverage below, definitely different!

The parking lot in the infield of the Texas Motor Speedway was still wet, it hadn’t been long since the rain stopped when we got there. The cars were slowly trickling in, but that’s to be expected when the weather forecast was what it was. I hope you enjoy the photos, more will be coming all week long.

The 6th Annual Goodguys Spring Lonestar Nationals took place at the Texas Motor Speedway over March 11-13, 2016. I’ve been attending this show for years, I’m lucky enough to have a bunch of North Texas friends and I take any chance that I get to hang out with them. The event has been plagued by threatening weather pretty much every time I’ve attended, this year was no different. The forecast was looking bleak as we rolled up to the event Saturday morning. The clouds were dense and low and the radar showed rain on the way. It never materialized at Texas Motor Speedway and we stayed dry all day long. Enjoy part 1 of the coverage and make sure to check back in each day for more!

Welcome to Part 3 of the Texas Thaw Coverage! Walking through the pits as the cars were still arriving it was great to see how many great cars were showing up! We had a couple of hours between the gates opening and the racing action starting, I spent most of that time walking the pits and finding friends old and new.

For Part 2 of the 2016 Texas Thaw we are in the car show section of the show. When I went through that area the first time and shot these photos there were still a lot of people on the way to the show so in a day or two we’ll see the rest of the car show area. Enjoy!
Welcome to Part 1 of the 2016 Texas Thaw coverage. The Texas Thaw went down at North Star Dragway outside of Denton, TX on March 5, 2016. The weather was amazing, the cars were awesome and the people as always were top notch. Great people make a great event.

Part 7 of the coverage of the 2016 Detroit Autorama will highlight the muscle cars! Since I normally don’t include them in the coverage AND since there were so many very nice ones, I figured why not give you all a bonus day of coverage? I know that not all of you are into muscle cars, if you aren’t then skip this post. If you are into all kinds of cars, you better look at this one!
