Part 7 of the coverage of the 2016 Detroit Autorama will highlight the muscle cars! Since I normally don’t include them in the coverage AND since there were so many very nice ones, I figured why not give you all a bonus day of coverage? I know that not all of you are into muscle cars, if you aren’t then skip this post. If you are into all kinds of cars, you better look at this one!

For Part 5 of the 2016 Detroit Autorama Coverage we continue through the main floor of the show. There’s less of the style of hot rods and kustoms that I like in this section of the show but there are still some amazing examples and of course tons of amazing work on all manner of vehicles. I hope you enjoy this coverage, there’s more to come! Make sure to check out the rest of the coverage that’s been posted so far!
This week Royboy tells the tale of the Detroit Autorama including a heck of a trip home! Interviews with Josh Welton, Max Grundy, Ed Tillrock, Todd Jones, James Owens and Chris Ryan. Tons of great folks on this one.

While cars and spectators converge on Detroit from around the globe to see who the next Ridler Award winner will be amongst the beautiful mechanical pieces of art upstairs, quite a few come to see what’s in the basement. After my 2015 trip to the Detroit Autorama I knew that I had to come back again. It’s not cost effective, but the cars here and more importantly the people are well worth it! From the amazing pieces of automotive art competing for the Ridler Award, to the more my style traditional rods and customs found in the Cavalcade of Customs and in the basement this show has a bit of everything that I want to see. The people in attendance from around the world are the best part. So many people that I’ve met over the years showing cars, selling their art or just hanging out, it’s all about a good time with great people. We start the coverage in the basement this year, I hope you enjoy it, there’s over 600 2016 Detroit Autorama photos in total that I’ll be posting all week long.
While in Detroit for the Detroit Autorama this weekend we decided to that since we’d seen the show on Friday and the crowds on Saturday are incredible… let’s skip it and head to the Henry Ford Museum over in Dearborn, MI. The museum is outstanding, amazing, so so so so so cool. If you go to Detroit, you should plan to spend most of a day exploring the Henry Ford Museum. To hold you over until I start the Detroit Autorama coverage tomorrow, here are some photos from the Henry Ford.
Part 5 of the 2016 Starbird Car Show in Tulsa concludes with more from the Rockin’ Billy Bash in the “basement” of the Tulsa Expo Center. There were a bunch of great rides, great music, the pinstriper/artist area, a makeshift version of the Razor’s Edge Barber shop and more. I hope you’ve enjoyed the coverage, what’s your favorite image from this show?
This week Royboy has a talk with Darryl Hollenbeck from Vintage Color Studio about the recent America’s Most Beautiful Roadster, building & driving the 32 that won the award and more.
As you can see from the photos, the 2016 Kansas City World Of Wheels wasn’t exactly my favorite kind of show. Sure there were plenty of nice cars and bikes, but there were a lot of cars that were at more of the local cruise in level than I’d expect at an indoor show. Maybe I’m just being prejudiced, maybe I always expected more out of this show. Aside from the Cavalcade of Kustoms area that I showed you in part 2 the show was kind of lack luster with just a few bright shining spots.
My favorite part of the KC World of Wheels each year is by far the Jack Walker Cavalcade of Kustoms, in fact, car wise it’s 99% of the reason that I go. Some friends had their cars in the display this year which made it even better for me. I was able to stop and talk with a couple of them which made the whole trip worthwhile.
Part 7 of the 2016 Grand National Roadster Show Coverage finishes up our tour of the Pomona Fairgrounds on Saturday. If you’ve never been to the Grand National Roadster Show, put it on your list. I can’t believe it took me that long to get out to it and I’m not sure how I’ll go about getting back each year but I definitely want to! Thanks again to Speedway for sponsoring this coverage, you folks make this coverage possible!
Part 6 of the 2016 Grand National Roadster Show Coverage continues with Saturday at the show. The already huge GNRS got that much bigger with all of the “Drive In” cars added to the show. It was truly a feat to get through in a single day!
Part 5 of the 2016 Grand National Roadster Show Coverage starts with us arriving Saturday morning. Again we entered through the NHRA museum, we were early and had to wait for the show to actually open. When it did we found a few hundred cars parked between the buildings.
