For the 2015 Pistons & Paint Car Show I headed out late Friday. Hearing reports from others that I-35 was slammed with NASCAR race weekend traffic I was a bit worried. 5 hours later I checked into my hotel room in southern OK, having never hit traffic, leaving at 7pm worked. A few hours of sleep and another hour of driving got me to the North Texas Fairgrounds in Denton.
2015 Pistons & Paint Pt. 1
November 6, 2015 the 2015 Pistons & Paint car show took over the North Texas Fairgrounds in Denton, TX. For years I’ve been attending the show but I’ve never taken my own ride until this year. For the 2nd year in a row the day started out wet but ended up awesome!

2015 Hot Rod Garage Open House Pt. 4
The Hot Rod Garage Open House also includes a reunion of some vintage drag racers. Tons of fast cars from the 60’s-70’s were from this region and this was a great way to get a few of the folks together.
2015 Hot Rod Garage Open House Pt. 3
As you can see in the photos from the 2015 Hot Rod Garage Open House the weather was kinda dreary for most of the day. The crowd just kept on coming, inside there was a long table and a bunch of chairs set up so folks could grab a bite amongst all of the current projects in that building and we could watch some vintage drag racing from a projector. Outside everyone’s buddy Monkey was acting as DJ, playing some great music and keeping us informed of the schedule of the day. It was a busy day!
2015 Hot Rod Garage Open House Pt. 2
In part 2 of my 2015 Hot Rod Garage Open House coverage we continue the stroll down the street to see all of the cars. Enjoy!
2015 Hot Rod Garage Open House Pt. 1
This weekend I headed down to Sand Springs, OK to the Hot Rod Garage for their 2015 Open House. All week long rain was threatening the event, it was looking iffy. When we got up at 6 on Saturday and looked out of the hotel window it was raining, no bueno. A quick look at the radar showed that it was just about over. By the time we got to the Hot Rod Garage all was good, wet pavement but no more falling from the sky and the front engine dragsters were unloading! Typically the event fills up early, the moisture slowed that down a bit but by noon the street was full on both sides and people were in all 4 buildings that make up Hot Rod Garage checking out all of the under construction projects and enjoying the cars parked around the facility.

2015 Bayou Roundup Pt. 1 By Ryder Burford
2015 Bayou Roundup photo coverage by 9 year old Ryder Burford!
I was excited when I heard that the Kontinentals were going to take the awesome recipe that makes up the Lonestar Roundup and drop it in Cajun country. Lafayette, LA played host to the first ever Bayou Roundup over the weekend of Oct. 16 and 17th. Great cars, great music and great food, what’s not to love? I was bummed when I found out that the event was the same weekend as the BluesMasters At The Crossroads in Salina. I can’t be in two places at once. Lucky for me (and you) my buddy, 9 year old Ryder Burford went to the event and took his camera! His photos are below 🙂

There was a small car show out front of the shop, enjoy the photos!
2015 TROG Coverage Pt. 4 by Jason Mayginnes
Another event that I couldn’t make but wish I could have was 2015 The Race Of Gentlemen or TROG. Held on the beach next to Wildwood, NJ this traditional hot rod event was postponed due to a hurricane and many were wondering how the turnout would be a week later. I think you’ll see from Jason Mayginnes’ photos that the turn out was great!

2015 Poverty Flats Pie Festival & Car Show Fall Edition
The 2015 Poverty Flats Pie Festival and Car Show Fall Edition is much like the one that my uncle Paul (Poverty Flats) put on over Memorial Day weekend. A free to enter car show that has delicious pies as trophies and is more about having a good time than anything else. The Fall edition happens as part of the Gypsum, KS Fall Fest so it includes a parade, a feed, music, games all in my home town. Good times! I was only able to stay for a short bit as this weekend is the Blues Masters At The Crossroads concerts that I work each year but I did snap some quick shots of some of the cars for you to enjoy!

2015 Old Geezers Show Pt. 4
The smaller shows like the 2015 Old Geezers Show are my favorite. You get the time to talk to everyone, you get to relax with your friends, it’s just a better time than spending all day looking at 1000 cars and never having time to talk or take in the details. Some great rides showing up helps too!
