2015 Spring Hot Rod Reunion at MOKAN Dragway

As I was driving by MOKAN Dragway on the way to Ryno’s Friday night I checked in on Facebook, something I do just out of habit nearly every trip by the track. I’m a nerd, I get it. When I got to Ryno’s he told me there was an event planned for the next day. So I changed up my plans to get back over to the track mid afternoon so I could catch some of the action.

Corey Conyers of Crown Custom is the man responsible for the build of this beautiful dragster. He is too busy fabricating kool stuff to have time to build a website so instead if you click on the photo it will take you to the Shop Visit I did at his place. His contact info is on that page. ANYTHING you need fabbed or metal shaped, this man can do. Click the image above to get his contact info!

So after having a great time at the Hot Rod Hundred (click here to see the coverage), I hustled back over to MOKAN to check out the action at the Spring Hot Rod Reunion. When we got to the track it was oddly silent, a few drag cars were leaving, this didn’t look like a good sign. From behind the burnout box we could see the crew working on cleaning up after an on track incident. As we entered the tower to meet up with track owner Carl Blanton we got to see from the back of a photographer’s camera that the car had lost control and at one point was a couple of feet up in the air above the guard rail. Below you can see the car as it was being pulled off the track.

The crew at MOKAN is pretty good, and it wasn’t long before the Semi-Finals were on again!

Along with the drags there was also a car show, although most of the cars had left by the time I got there. This El Camino is just sweet.

Soooo, I don’t get the whole diesel black smoke thing. Can anyone explain it to me?

Sorry theres not more to show you! That’s what I get for trying to get in two events that were about 100 miles apart in one day. After this Ryno and I took his wagon to do some shots for a magazine article. I wish I could share them with you but you’ll just have to wait until the magazine article comes out.

Buy a print (click on the image for the shopping cart) if you like a photo!

See you at a show,
