Next steps on the Royboy 51 Ford

1951 Ford  0010

Next up for the 51 Ford is to finish what I’d previously started. Not very exciting but getting the booth ready for the KKOA had to take precedence. So back to the regularly scheduled program… I’ll drain the bad gas out of the tank, take a peek inside and see how it looks. Then either clean and seal the tank or just put some good gas in and see how she starts. For more info on Ford’s “shoebox” check out this blog post.

I still need to change out the points for a pertronix, wires and plugs. Then I need to install the new speedway water pumps.  The wiring is shot so a new Affordable Street Rods wiring panel and wiring kit will be installed.

Then the Aerostar springs for the front (3″ drop and variable spring technology for a great ride quality) and new drop springs for the rear will go in with the freshened up 1978 Granada rear end.

So that’s the next few months of my evenings when I’m not working on rebuilding the website, creating the Calendar for Charity, resting for the day job and all the other things on the list :). The point is, make a list, and get about the business of knocking items off of that list so you can get your old heap on the road too!

Where all to find Royboy Productions online

So obviously if you’re reading this you know all about the Royboy Productions Blog… um this is it. But Royboy images and stories can be found all over the internet. The home hub for it all is royboyproductions.com over the coming months I hope to update the site to act as a true hub for all that goes on in the RBP world.
The RBP galleries are all found on SmugMug, over 38,000 images from Austin to Vegas to Chicago and all kinda points in between. This is the main place to go for the visual stories that make up Royboy Productions.

Another great place to keep up with RBP is on Facebook. Pretty much everything flows through that page, links to photo galleries, blog posts, etc. all go through the Royboy page on Facebook.

Keep an eye out for a new Royboy Productions website, there will be a complete overhaul in the next few months to better bring you daily articles on show coverage, feature cars, shop profiles, and car club profiles.

See you at a show,

Royboy

Looking ahead at the 2014 Calendar For Charity

Looking ahead at the 2014 Calendar For Charity

Starting in 2008 for the 2009 year, Royboy Productions has been creating calendars each year to raise money for various charities. Last year the 6 versions of the 2013 Calendar for Charity raised a total of over $1000.00 profit for their various charities.
Pre-production planning is underway now for the 2014 Calendar for Charity. Last year we sold 190 calendars, this year the goal is 350, 50 each of 7 editions. Traditional Hot Rods, Kustoms, Trucks, Drag Cars, Stray Kat Kustoms, Greaserama and Iron Invasion. The Traditional Hot Rods, Kustoms, Trucks, and Drag Cars editions will all go to fund the Wounded Warrior Project, while the Stray Kat Kustoms, Greaserama and Iron Invasion editions will fund their own respective causes.
The pre-sales for the calendars will start the first weekend of October.  Calendars will be scheduled to start shipping the first week of November. I will need your help to get all of these calendars sold this year. Unlike last year once a certain edition is sold out, it will be sold out this time, NO REPRINTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. I will be emailing everyone that ordered a calendar last year to let them know that they will have the chance to do so this year as well.
If you would like an email letting you know when the pre-sale becomes active send a message here with “Calendar” in the comment box. You’ll receive an email and a link to the pre-sale page when it becomes active.
Thank you for supporting Royboy Productions and the fine charities that we are able to support together via the annual Calendar For Charity Project.

Catch Up Time!

There are a lot of new people following Royboy Productions lately. Thank you for that, seriously from the bottom of my heart thank you for allowing my adventures and photos to be a small part of your car world. For those of  you that are new or may have just forgotten, here are some of the kooler things that Royboy has going on.

I had much higher hopes for the output of my video series named Royboy Features (I honestly need a better name for that one). I need to be putting these out about once a month, however I’ve found that a difficult addition to my already busy schedule. Anyways, here are the first two features.
Jack’s 1929 Roadster Survivor Hot Rod from the 50’s
And Jeff Myers’ awesome 63 Galaxie 500 Kustom (sorry about the audio). This ride is for sale and I’m sure you can get it a steal compared to what it would cost to build.
As always I’m selling a couple of posters to help fund my travels and all of the expensive equipment it takes to do the car show coverage.
Poster #1 is of Jack’s Roadster
Poster #2 is of a line of kustoms and hot rods at the Stray Kat 500.
And of course you can visit the store page at Royboy Productions for hats, shirts, etc.
Make sure to subscribe to this blog to keep up on all of my travels and see tons of free car show coverage from across the midwest.

A blast from the past.

Two years ago a bunch of my hooligan hot rod and kustom family got together for a great run through the Flint Hills of south eastern Kansas. I recently went through some of the photos and updated them with a new edit this week. Here’s the blog about that day.

And here are the photos:

It was more fun than I can accurately convey, I highly recommend that you get together with your friends and go out and enjoy your ride!

Don’t forget that it costs a lot for the gas and hotels to bring you all of the car show coverage, if you want to help out, consider buying a print on http://royboyproductions.smugmug.com/ or maybe one of the embroidered hats, shoebox shirt, model A shirt, Poster #1, Poster #2 or  something from the Zazzle store below.

Week in Review & A Look Ahead 4-20-13

It’s been an interesting week  in U.S. history, the Boston Marathon Bombing, the fertilizer plant in West, TX and the apprehension of the Boston Marathon bomber (and killing of his brother/fellow bomber). My heart goes out to the families and friends of all of those that suffered this week due to these two events.

On with the blog:

Monday
On Monday I finished up my coverage from the 2013 Lonestar Roundup. Monday’s post was some of the more artful edits from the show. If you missed the coverage you can see the entire gallery here. Or you can follow along the coverage on the blog in these posts. Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Art

Tuesday
On Tuesday I looked ahead at an event going on today (Saturday April 20, 2013). The H.A.M.B.B.Q.

Wednesday
Wednesday was a look in the ol way back machine, okay, not so far back, just a few years. But it was a look back at the Kansas City GearGrinder show.

Thursday
Thursday we took a look at one of the big 2 shows happening in the Midwest on the first weekend of May. The Vintage Torque Fest. I was able to make the first two years of this show and shared some slideshows of those events. Have a look if you can be in Dubuque, IA the first weekend of May, you wont be disappointed.

Friday
Friday was the official announcement of the Limited Edition Poster #2! I’m excited to offer this as a pre-sale for a discounted price (I cover the shipping on the pre-orders). So get your order in now! I still have 14 copies of poster #1 but I bet those will be gone by the end of the Stray Kat 500 so don’t wait!

Saturday
Today I’ll be heading out to aforementioned H.A.M.B.B.Q. , then I’ll head to Chaotic Customs to test drive my Galaxie as they help me fight a vibration issue. Then it’s off to Winfield, KS for the 20th Anniversary party for my friends tattoo and piercing shop Skinsations in Arkansas City, KS. It will be a long busy day.

Sunday
Tomorrow its up super early to get to the Kansas Speedway super early because I will spend the day hanging out with the pit crew for the #20 car driven by Matt Kenseth! Congrats Matt & crew on the new track record and pole position qualifying effort!

Next weekend
Next weekend I’ll be hitting the Chaotic Customs Open House in Mulvane, KS. From 10-2 this will be a kool event/car show.

Limited Edition Poster #2

Awhile back I released Limited Edition Poster #1, and now it’s time for #2! Wait, that didn’t sound right… you know what I mean, the second one… whatever!

As with the last time, there will be a pre-sale period. In fact, anyone who purchased Poster #1 has already received an email with an offer to get Poster #2 and have the same number as the first time. Again11x17 size and  50 copies only, never to be printed again, get it or miss it.

This photo was taken last year at the Stray Kat 500 in Dewey, OK. The 500 is where you should be the first weekend of each May, its the koolest, most laid back event around.

Royboy Feature Videos

It’s been awhile since I’ve released a new video. I have the footage shot for 2 more but I’m waiting to time their release with those vehicles feature articles in magazines. Until then and for the new people here are the first two.

Episode 1 is all about the car that is featured in the Limited Edition Poster #1. Episode 1:Jack Marinelli tells the story behind his historic hot rod. A 29 Model A on 32 frame with a 46 drivetrain, this hot rod was build in the mid 50’s and sits today almost exactly the way it did then. This car is no enclosed trailer princess that sits in a museum, it is driven, and driven like it’s stolen. Music by Pushrod www.pushrodengage.com This episode sponsored by www.straykatkustoms.com

New Book! IG Kustoms Vol. 1

So last year I created the small 7″ sq. book Instagram Hot Rods Vol. 1, the plan was to release a Kustoms edition shortly after that. It didn’t happen. But now is the time!

The new 7″ sq. Instagram Kustoms Vol. 1 is full of 40 pages of kustoms from the Royboy archives that have been posted on Instagram. The book is available as a soft cover, hard cover, hard cover with a dust jacket or as an ebook. Your choice!

Auto Art Edits

From time to time I find myself with some extra…time… kinda wrote myself into a loop there. Anyways with that extra time I usually fire up the editing software to make some adjustments to a photo or two. Sometimes the goal is to make an image more of an art project, sometimes the goal is just to clean it up.

Big Joe’s Ford Truck

This Merc looked great but there were a few distractions. Here’s the edited version

And here is the Original

This shot of The Toad from the Starliner show in Wichita, KS just felt like it needed a vintage vibe to it.

For only $15 shipped you can get the Limited Edition Poster, less than 20 remain!
