Although it’s a small show car count wise, the 2014 Starliner made up for it in quality.

Over night some storms moved in to the area and didn’t really leave until about sun up. For anyone already in Wichita or coming from north of the KS-OK border the rain was a non-issue, for our friends that live in OK and had not come up yet it slowed some down and kept others at home altogether. The 2014 Starliner may have been a touch down on car count due to this, I didn’t see the final numbers but as you can see, some great cars were in attendance.

Joe’s place was the last stop on the Garage Krawl this year and it didn’t take long for a crowd to fill in. Lucky for us this was the perfect garage to gather a crowd at.

I’ve been lucky enough to attend all of the Starliner events so far. Since I’ve started spending the weekend at the host hotel with all of the out of towners this has become my favorite event of the year.

Yes, I know it’s supposed to be feature Friday. You see, my feature car owner is in Bonneville and I didn’t get his tech sheet before he left so any article I’d write on it would be completely made up… and although that sounds fun I figured I’d just hold on it the article until I could get a proper piece written. Soooooo here we are, one month away from the Starliner show…
One of my favorite shows of the year each year is the Stray Kat Kustoms Starliner. The show goes down this year September 5th with the Garage Krawl and 6th with the show itself. Â Click the link below to see more from last year’s show!

Event Coverage: My Favorite Shows Year After Year
It’s no secret that I get to a lot of events across the midwest. I certainly have my favorites, this is a partial list of the shows I like, with a link to the show’s official website if possible and some of my show coverage where I can. My philosophy is different than many, I don’t think that a huge car count is always a good thing. My favorite experiences at shows have all been when the car counts were less than 250. I don’t have anything against the bigger shows, I’ve had great times at them as well but the very best experiences were these select smaller ones.

July 13th- Next up for my schedule is the Automobilia Moonlight Car Show in Wichita, KS
July 19-20- I’m not able to attend but I wanted to hit Krome N Kandy in Minneapolis, MN
July 25-28 – Then it’s the local show, the KKOA Leadsled Spectacular in Salina, KS (1600+ cars, Run What Ya Brung Drags and tons more)
Aug. 3rd- A week after that there is usually a small show in Lindsborg, KS just down the road from me as well.
Aug. 17th- Then there’s an open week before heading to the H.A.M.B. Drags in Asbury, MO (outside of Joplin)
Then it’s back to Wichita for the Blacktop Nationals Aug. 23-25
Then it’s off to Kansas City for the Greaserama, in it’s new location in Tracy, MO Aug. 31-Sept. 1
Then it’s back to Wichita for one of my favorite shows of the year, the Starliner Sept. 6-7
Sept. 14th I’ll be in Georgetown, CO for the Hot Rod Hill Climb
Sept. 21st- the long running Ol Marais River Run in Ottawa, KS
Sept. 28th- There are 4 shows that I’d like to attend but I will be at the Rumble in Wichita (formerly Rumble in Delano)
Oct. 5th- This is my birthday weekend, there may be a big party or it may stay low key, no word yet.
Oct. 12- My 2nd trip to Woodstock, IL for Iron Invasion

Part 5! With the fun of the Friday Garage Krawl in our memories, it was on to the main event of the Starliner show at the Kansas Aviation Museum. Before I go any further I want to say thanks to yblock292 for not only putting together the Garage Krawl but for hosting me for the weekend. I had an absolute blast hanging out and talking hotrods and kustoms with ya!

My buddy Michael brought his awesome 40 Ford Truck out, I got to see it under construction, it’s awesome to see it finished.
Finkd (Jeff Myers) brought out his Stude pickup, I never get tired of seeing this ride.
Hub Harness brought out his beautiful Buick, this is my favorite kustom. Sorry to anyone that might get their feelings hurt but I just love this ride.
