Part 4 of the 2016 Detroit Autorama coverage continues upstairs, hot rods, street rods, trucks and more all fill the main floor of Cobo Center. There’s a ton of great great machinery here, enjoy!
2016 Detroit Autorama Part 3
For Part 3 of the 2016 Detroit Autorama coverage we finish up the basement of Cobo Center and head upstairs. While there are still some great hot rods and kustoms, there are some street rods and muscle cars too. Enjoy the variety and the Cavalcade of Custstoms and the Concept Cars displays.
2016 Detroit Autorama Part 2
For Part 2 of the 2016 Detroit Autorama photo coverage we continue the trek through the basement of Cobo Center. While cars and spectators converge on Detroit from around the globe to see who the next Ridler Award winner will be amongst the beautiful mechanical pieces of art upstairs, quite a few come to see what’s in the basement. What’s your favorite shot from this post? Comment below!
2016 Detroit Autorama Part 1
After my 2015 trip to the Detroit Autorama I knew that I had to come back again. It’s not cost effective, but the cars here and more importantly the people are well worth it! From the amazing pieces of automotive art competing for the Ridler Award, to the more my style traditional rods and customs found in the Cavalcade of Customs and in the basement this show has a bit of everything that I want to see. The people in attendance from around the world are the best part. So many people that I’ve met over the years showing cars, selling their art or just hanging out, it’s all about a good time with great people. We start the coverage in the basement this year, I hope you enjoy it, there’s over 600 2016 Detroit Autorama photos in total that I’ll be posting all week long.
Detroit Trip Bonus! Henry Ford Museum
While in Detroit for the Detroit Autorama this weekend we decided to that since we’d seen the show on Friday and the crowds on Saturday are incredible… let’s skip it and head to the Henry Ford Museum over in Dearborn, MI. The museum is outstanding, amazing, so so so so so cool. If you go to Detroit, you should plan to spend most of a day exploring the Henry Ford Museum. To hold you over until I start the Detroit Autorama coverage tomorrow, here are some photos from the Henry Ford.
2016 Starbird Car Show Pt. 5
Part 5 of the 2016 Starbird Car Show in Tulsa concludes with more from the Rockin’ Billy Bash in the “basement” of the Tulsa Expo Center. There were a bunch of great rides, great music, the pinstriper/artist area, a makeshift version of the Razor’s Edge Barber shop and more. I hope you’ve enjoyed the coverage, what’s your favorite image from this show?

2016 Starbird Car Show Pt. 4
For Part 4 of the 2016 Starbird Car Show we finish up the main floor and work our way down to the Rockin Billy Bash in the lower area. For those that have heard of the dirt race called “The Chili Bowl” this is where it’s held in the Tulsa Expo Center. In years past the area has been devoted to monster truck races and demolition derbies, I’m glad to see it used as a car show display area.
2016 Starbird Car Show Pt. 3
Above you see the 2015 Ridler Winning “Imposter” built by Chip Foose, the 2016 Starbird Car Show marks the 3rd time that I’ve seen the car in person. The car debuted at Detroit last year and I saw it again in November in Denver, the car was a feature car at Tulsa. The rest of the photos in this post show the diversity of vehicles that show up at the Tulsa Starbird show. Enjoy!
2016 Starbird Car Show Pt. 2
For Part 2 of the 2016 Starbird Show coverage we continue through the center of the Tulsa Expo center. Note most if not all of the Fine Nine are in this posting, as well as some Royboy favorites like the newly finished build from Murphos in Austin, my buddy Scott’s Model A and the car you see above and below plus many others. I did have to walk past a lot of cars that didn’t do much for me to see the ones that I like but it’s worth it, good stuff here!
2016 Starbird Car Show Pt. 1
At this point I have no idea how many years I’ve been attending the Tulsa Starbird show, it’s been a few! This coverage starts on the far west end of the building and works towards the center where you’ll see the Fine Nine cars, the 2015 Ridler Winning “Imposter” and more! I had to rush through due to time constraints but I think you’ll find a pretty good sampling of the best stuff that was there.

2016 Kansas City World Of Wheels Pt. 4
Welcome to part 4 of the 2016 Kansas City World of Wheels coverage.
2016 Kansas City World Of Wheels Pt. 3
As you can see from the photos, the 2016 Kansas City World Of Wheels wasn’t exactly my favorite kind of show. Sure there were plenty of nice cars and bikes, but there were a lot of cars that were at more of the local cruise in level than I’d expect at an indoor show. Maybe I’m just being prejudiced, maybe I always expected more out of this show. Aside from the Cavalcade of Kustoms area that I showed you in part 2 the show was kind of lack luster with just a few bright shining spots.
2016 Kansas City World Of Wheels Pt. 2
My favorite part of the KC World of Wheels each year is by far the Jack Walker Cavalcade of Kustoms, in fact, car wise it’s 99% of the reason that I go. Some friends had their cars in the display this year which made it even better for me. I was able to stop and talk with a couple of them which made the whole trip worthwhile.

For part 4 of the Grand National Roadster Show coverage I’m continuing with Friday’s adventure. There are a TON of amazing cars left to see in this coverage, so many that we didn’t get to them all in 6 hours at the show on Friday. Later in the coverage we’ll get into the Suede Palace. That room was worth the entire trip, actually each of the buildings in the show was worth the trip by themselves. What’s your favorite car in this post?

Part 2 of the 2016 Grand National Roadster Show (GNRS) coverage continues with the 1st building of the show that I went into. The first photo above is of Aquarius, by Rick Dore for James Hetfield, an incredibly cool ride and design. From that building we moved on to the next and the next all afternoon long. It’s an amazing show full of just about anything you could want to see with an engine in it.

Finally! Finally, I got to attend the Grand National Roadster Show! The 67th Annual GNRS went down at the Pomona Fairplex in Pomona, CA January 29-31, 2016. We started the day by entering the show through the NHRA museum on the Fairgrounds, and what a way to start the event! So much amazing history in one building, and all of it just whets your appetite for what’s about to come for the rest of the weekend.
