Part 9! Saturday…hell has opened it’s doors and unleashed it’s heat on Salina, KS
Lucky for us the show has moved to Oakdale Park which has plenty of shade trees, but that kinda makes it rough on very sunny days when you’re trying to shoot cool pictures. Continue reading “2011 KKOA Leadsled Spectacular Coverage Part 9”
Part 8!

After the Bright Built Hot Rods Open House was the official start of the show, a cruise through the business district of Santa Fe Ave in Salina. It was really more of a slow parade but it brought out a huge crowd, the cooler weather due to another storm that you can see in the last pics helped the spectator count as well. Wow! It was a great weekend for me at the 2011 KKOA Leadsled Spectacular in Salina, KS! This is basically a home town show being 20 miles from home and I took as full advantage of that as my body would allow. Starting with going in on Wednesday night to see the early arrivers and enjoying the 107 to 83 degree drop in 15 or so minutes when a storm came through. Sitting around having fun at the hotel during the Stray Kat 500 this year a few of us thought it would be a good idea to do SOMETHING, anything in between the 500 and the KKOA in Salina. We all have shows we were going to do but something where we actually did something with our rides would be great. The idea was brought to Finkd’s attention and he took the ball and ran with it. He’d done a cool run last fall when Ian Berky was up at Premier Body & Paint in Arkansas City, KS and had been wanting to do another run anyways so the stars lined up for us all and the run was planned. Finkd did a great job planning the run and took us down some very cool roads along the way. Continue reading “KS Boys Backroads Tour!”
Every year on Memorial Day my Uncle Paul and his wife Sandy have a celebration where the family and friends can come together, have some food, share some quality time and of course pay our respects for those that the day is truly for. Continue reading “Memorial Day in Small Town U.S.A.”

Pete & Jakes Hot Rod Parts hosted their annual Open House Car Show on May 14th in Peculiar, MO. A bunch of stripers were on hand (oh how much more fun would this sentence be with one additional “p” huh?) and a ton of cool cars/folks that build & own them. There was an auction of a ton of striped stuff to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. That’s a good cause, help support them if ya can.
Here’s some of what I saw. Click on any of these shots to go to the whole gallery, there are a ton more shots than what I’ll share on this thread.

Part 7ish!
Studebaker trucks are kinda rare when you compare the numbers produced to the the numbers of the Big 3 but this show was so kool that there were 4 of them. Here’s one that belongs to the folks from Pro-Chrome.
Part 5 Starts off with a sneak peek of the 1st Annual Carl Green Inspiration Award. Continue reading “2011 Stray Kat 500 Coverage Parts 5-6”

In this installment of my Easter weekend spectacular we’ve moved on to Sunday. My uncle Paul (povertyflats) has a fun car and a couple of motorized bicycles and after dinner it was time for the real fun to begin.
