For the 2nd year in a row I made the nearly 800 mile journey from my home in central Kansas to Dutch John, Utah, more specifically to Flaming Gorge Resort for the 15th Annual Car Show. We showed up on Wednesday this year instead of Thursday, another day in the remote mountain resort meant more time with friends and car family, more time to relax and recharge, and more time to enjoy the beautiful scenery that surrounds Flaming Gorge Resort .

2020 Hot Rod Showdown Photos – More than 200 photos in the gallery!
A few weeks ago I had Roger and Will from the Hot Rod Showdown on my podcast talking about their 2nd Annual event that happened this year on February 29th at 7A Ranch in Wimberley, TX. At that time I was really looking forward to returning to the show, I had no idea how much fun I was going to have.
Thursday the 27th I left my day job at Affordable Street Rods in Peabody, KS and headed south. After a 30 minute delay on the interstate a little after 11pm I finally got to my hotel in Alvarado, TX around 1 am.

Ryan “Monkey” Miller’s 1940 Ford Truck Feature Video
Monkey is a hell of a character, whether it’s driving a blown t bucket in the rain or jumping unnaturally high as the flag man for the DuckusCrapus drags, we have a great time every time we hang out. This time we were riding around in his 1940 Ford Pickup truck and he told me the story of the truck and some interesting adventures he’s had in it along the way.

2020 Grand National Roadster Show Photos
Each year before I go out to California for the 2020 Grand National Roadster Show I wonder to myself, is it really worth the expense and the time off of work to travel all the way out to CA again? Each year on the way home from the trip I remember that it certainly was worth it.

Royboy Productions Video Feature 5: Johnny Torres’ 1950 Plymouth
A video I shot a few years ago telling the story of Johnny Torres’ 1950 Plymouth. We sat down in his upholstery shop in Hutchinson, KS on a 5degree day and told the story. The car was resurrected from a basically abandoned derelict and built into a ride that’s been back and forth from Kansas to California repeatedly.
I hope you enjoy the video, I have one more done and ready to upload next month and a bunch more shot and awaiting editing!

2019 Decembrrrr Run
Since 2010 a small and ever changing group of hot rod and custom folks have been gathering in Gypsum, KS to challenge the weather, to get one more drive in, to chase each other through central Kansas one more time before winter hits. We call it the Decembrrrr Run and this year it was a lot of fun, like always!
Burnin’ Rubber Through History – Denver Timing Association’s 70th Birthday Party
This September while attending the 2019 Hot Rod Hill Climb, I was told by Troy Hastings to keep the weekend of November 16th open for an event in Denver. That’s because Hastings is the President of the Denver Timing Association which was founded in 1949, making this the 70th Anniversary of the DTA, and this weekend was when the DTA had scheduled the Burnin’ Rubber Through History event. A retrospective of hot rodding featuring cars as old as 1918 and various cars from Colorado’s hot rodding history.

2019 Hot Rod Rock And Rumble
I seem to have a knack for missing the first time a cool event happens. This time I’d missed two instances of the Hot Rod Rock And Rumble held at Pikes Peak International Raceway, although I had a great reason to miss the first one as I was in the middle of the 48 Cars 48 States trip. Last year… Yeah I didn’t have much of an excuse.
2019 Hot Rod Hill Climb Coverage – more than 400 photos!
In 2013 Mike Nicholas and some die hard friends brought back the Hot Rod Hill Climb as a tribute to the event that happened in 1953 and 1954 in Georgetown, CO. After a couple of years at that location, the venue changed to Central City, CO where the 2019 Hot Rod Hill Climb happened this year on Sept. 13-14.

2019 Them! Invasion photos by 13 year old Ryder Burford
One of the visions that I’ve had for Royboy Productions is to have it be bigger than just me. To that end I’m hoping to get more people from across the country to share their photos of car shows and events with me so that I can share them with you.

2019 H.A.M.B. Drags Coverage
The H.A.M.B. Drag has been invading Mo-Kan Dragway between Joplin, MO and Pittsburgh, KS for more than a decade and let’s face it, the weather isn’t always conducive to good racing but hey it’s always a good time.
2019 KKOA Leadsled Spectacular Coverage
Since the KKOA Leadsled Spectacular moved to Salina, KS (I think in 2007?) I’ve been attending every year. In the beginning the show was held in Thomas Park, where a local show had been held about a month earlier for a few years. The show quickly outgrew the park and moved to the larger Oakdale Park. Now even that park gets nearly filled to the brim each year.
The show really started my love affair with customs, I’d never really been around them before and being up close and personal with them was all it took. I’d seen a few in magazines over the years but this was the first time a group of kustoms was right in front of me.

2019 Flaming Gorge Resort Car Show
This year while attending the Hot Rod Dirt Drags I was talking with some of the Throttlers CC from Salt Lake City about their plans for Independence Day weekend. It turns out that Throttlers Woody’s family has a super cool resort called Flaming Gorge Resort in Dutch John, UT and the Throttlers couldn’t say enough good things about the Independence Day weekend festivities there.
